Just some useful stuff:
Navigator panel - allows you to easily navigate around and shows your location within your image document. To display, go to Window > check Navigator Ctrl+alt+z - multiple undos. This I abuse a lot.
Ohk, here's a simple tutorial on cleaning texts with fill layer... Easy and fast. Especially if you own a tablet. Definitely not a lazy person's cleaning method. This tool is good for circular/oval-shaped speech bubbles. If boxed speech, there's a rectangular option for you.
Be sure you're on B (or holding shift key down) to add new selections or else you're gonna lose all your selections and then you cuss. *ctrl+z (undo) to bring back selections Done making/adding selections? Now, fill layer to add a layer of solid white colour. Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Colour > (white) > OK > OK
Oooooooooooooooooooohh!Done? Almost! You with shaky hands is inevitable to have some "debris" left over and to get rid of those, simply select Layer Mask thumbnail and brush to manually erase. Now you are done!*If you prefer to do your redrawing on background copies, just merge down the colour fill layer.
